Yet Another Indication of the Degeneration of Our Society

From FoxNews

A mob of thirty teenagers converged on a Maryland convenience store. Within a minute the teens had all left the store, but they didn’t pay for any of the items they took. Community leaders are now considering a curfew.  The video below is from the security footage from the store:

Flash mob Plunders 7-11

We are, sadly, seeing the lack of morals and ethics present in much of the rest of the world beginning to show itself here at home.  (“beginning”, of course, is a misstatement – the groundwork for such things has been being laid for quite some time).  Our abandonment, a bit at a time, of the principles and foundations upon which our society was established has left us with little or no moral and ethical place from to determine right and wrong.

Hence, when someone give a call and suggests (to some) that they run out to the local 7-11 and take what they are “owed” (after all, 7-11 is a big corporation, they can afford it, and they are probably at least a little dishonest and selfish, high prices and all) and besides it’s fun and they aren’t hurting anyone) some jump right up and join the “party” – the “flash mob”.

And why not?  If there is no way to judge that what is on a given TV program is right or wrong; or that a woman’s choice regarding pregnancy is right or wrong, or that marriage is a matter for a man a woman only, or any one of a dozen other moral and ethical issues that require definite yes or no choices that must be made based on Biblical grounds.  If “we”have no standard for those choice that lies outside (for instance – God’s Word) of ourselves, then, obviously that standard will be drawn from “inside” of ourselves and will be entirely subjective – what is OK (or not OK) for me won’t pass that test for someone else.

This the great conflict when the revelation of God is abandoned.  In our rebellion, we not only reject the authority of the God of all men, but we reject the the only counsel that can bring order and viable structure to society, allowing it to function in an ongoing and productive fashion.

Sadly, we see our great nation casting these truths aside and we’ll see the results of those foolish choices show themselves in these types of increasing lawless and disorderly deeds.  God have mercy upon us…
